About Me
What is my philosophy?
- Woman-centred care - I place your needs and those of your family at the centre of your care. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.
- Informed consent - your body, your baby, your choice. My role is to work in partnership with you: to present all care options, risks, benefits, indications and alternatives, then support you to make the decision that is best for you.
- Education - knowledge is power. I explain things simply and clearly, to help remove any anxiety and guide you into parenthood feeling ready and empowered.
- Pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding are beautiful, transformative, normal human experiences - everyone in the world is born, and in the majority of cases our bodies grow, birth and feed babies extremely well without intervention!
- Collaboration - I work closely with your local hospital and refer to other health professionals if it is indicated. The safety of you and your baby is my top priority.
"Midwives have skilled hands, and know when to sit on them."
Who am I as a midwife and person?
I live and breathe midwifery. When I'm not looking after you, you might find me working in a hospital, birth centre, or teaching the next generation of midwives at the university. I have a profound respect for the processes of pregnancy and birth, and have experienced firsthand how transformative and empowering they can be! I also understand what an anxious, uncertain time it can be - if this is you, you're not alone and I've got you!
When I'm not working I'm usually busy with my two beautiful children or (let's be real) cleaning the house or doing some washing! If I'm lucky, you might find me doing yoga in the sunshine, or with friends (probably talking their ear off about birth and the strength and power of women).
Why should women consider midwifery continuity of care?
Having the same midwife for your whole pregnancy through to when your baby is around 6 weeks old has proven to benefit the health of mums and babies. Compared to other models of care, women who receive continuous midwifery care report more positive experiences, have fewer interventions (like induction of labour, caesarean section and instrumental birth), have higher rates of breastfeeding, and no change in the rate of negative outcomes (1,2).
1 in 3 women enter parenthood traumatised from their birth experience. We can reduce this if all women have access to continuity of care models with more focus on antenatal education, breastfeeding education and informed consent (3). This is something I have always believed and practiced!
My goal is to have every woman feel comfortable and excited about the journey they're on, and to start motherhood feeling empowered and in awe of herself, her body and her baby!
Why should women consider shared care with me as an endorsed, private midwife?
- All* your pregnancy and post-birth care will be with the same, experienced midwife.
- You have 24/7 phone access to a trusted midwife who knows you and your story.
- Appointments are unhurried, on average an hour long, at flexible times, and in the comfort of your own home.
- Appointments include education, birth planning and holistic support.
- I have undergone additional training to be able to offer medicare-rebates for care, can prescribe medications, and order your pregnancy bloods tests and ultrasounds. E-scripts mean you can get prescriptions instantly, without needing to wait for your next appointment.
- If complications arise, I consult with or refer you to the obstetric team at the hospital you are booked to birth at. You have access to their assessment unit for urgent care that falls outside of my scope of practice.
- When you go into labour, you attend your booked birthing hospital and the midwives there will care for you (I am not offering birth services at this time). I can still care for you in pregnancy if you are planning an elective caesarean.
- Once you have your baby, I resume care for you when you are home.
- Postnatal visits are unhurried, as often as needed and for as long as you need (usually up to 6 weeks).
- I also offer stand-alone antenatal education sessions, postnatal care packages and birth debriefs.
*The guideline for shared-care involves a booking visit, a 36 week visit (depending on the hospital) and a 40 week visit at your booking hospital. Postnatally you have the choice of receiving the hospital home visiting midwife service or just your private midwife. You will still have access to your private midwife the whole time.
How can you work with me?

- Antenatal education sessions - in person or Telehealth
- Postnatal packages
- Birth debriefs - in person or Telehealth
